Thailand trip

Thailand and Laos

December 2010

Todd spent December, 2010 in Thailand. The first portion of the month he and FBI staff taught at the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in Bangkok. This training was attended by police officers from roughly a dozen Asian countries.

Donette joined Todd for the later half of the month. The pair visited the cities of Ayutthaya, Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Additionally, they rock climbed in the south of the country at Railay and Koh Phi Phi Don and in the north, at the Crazy Horse Buttress near Chiang Mai.

August 2012

July-August 2012 was spent in Thailand and Laos. The first part of the trip was organizing and conducting another training session at ILEA in Bangkok with FBI staff. This event was targeted at law enforcement and archaeologists from a half dozen southeast Asian countries.

Following the training, Todd and Donette took a train north to Udon Thani, Thailand to see the nearby World Heritage Site at Ban Chiang. It was then to Vientiane, Laos to see the National Museum and staff that had attended the recent training at ILEA. From Vientiane, the duo continued north to Vang Vieng where they assisted a local rock climbing guide service by establishing new routes that stay dry in the rain. From Vang Vieg, Donette and Todd went to Luang Prabang, where working with another guide service, they established more dry routes at a cliff overlooking the Mekong River. From Luang Prabang they also visited the Plain of Jars – another fabulous World Heritage Site.
