Ecuador

August 1991

In July-August 1991, Todd and a friend went on a mountaineering expedition to Ecuador. The pair climbed a handful of peaks, most in poor weather. Chimborazo (6,263m/20,548ft) was the literal highpoint and an ascent of the Reventador (The Expolder; 3,562m/11,686ft) was by far the most memorable. Todd wrote an article about the Reventador trek that appeared in the winter 2023-24 edition of Appalachia.
